Elsewhere on the island a car was swept into Sheffield Cove and power outages were still being reported on Tuesday. Police reported no injuries or damage to marine vessels.

Lilly, a one-and-a-half-year-old Maltese, was among the parade of pooches at Allie’s Tack & Feed on Saturday. Animals looking for a new home were introduced at a benefit for the Friends of the North Kingstown Animal Shelter. Items for pets and their owners were offered for sale.

It was a big weekend at Smith’s Castle in North Kingstown as the annual Harvest Festival brought large crowds to the grounds to see such sights as the “Ladies of the Rolling Pin”.

Hundreds of thrill-seekers spent Saturday morning at Yawgoo Valley, in Exeter, using ropes to climb hills on the “Clamber”; scaling walls and crawling through the mud. It was all part of the Bold r Dash 5K Challenge whose director Lynn Hall (above) got down and dirty while navigating her way through the course.
