WEST WARWICK — Learning for the students at Deering Middle School hasn’t stopped just because it’s summer time.
The initiative to maintain all that’s been learned during the school year goes on through the Kent County YMCA’s collaboration with the United Way and Hasbro. “It’s not just about academics,” explained BLAST program and YMCA after school program Director Kristen Petrarca. “This is about working as a team, about having organization and having an end goal and if you fail, learning how an idea can be successful and improved next time.”
Congressman Jim Langevin, along with representatives from the United Way and Hasbro, took some time Tuesday morning to hear directly from the students what they’ve spent their time doing these last six weeks working on to showcase in their open house this Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.
