Winter solstice viewing tonight at Frosty Drew

December 20, 2010

CHARLESTOWN -- Join Frosty Drew astronomers in celebrating the winter solstice and viewing a total lunar eclipse today at the Observatory from 6 to 10 p.m. for moon and star gazing.

During the night, the Sky Theatre will be open for visitors to learn about lunar and solar eclipses and a history of the winter solstice. The first total lunar eclipse in almost three years begins around 1:30 a.m. and ends at 5 a.m. From 2:40 to almost 4 a.m., the eclipse will be total.

Go to www.frostydrew.org/observatory for information. Admission is
