NORTH KINGSTOWNâWilsonâs of Wickford has long been a destination for many residents looking to buy the newest piece of clothing or accessory, focusing on American-made clothing since 1944. Now, owner James Wilson has started a fundraising campaign in order for the business stay alive.
âWe know the tough, economic times that weâve all faced,â said Wilson in his campaign message. âOne of the hardest hit areas has been retail businesses, and especially independently-owned stores like Wilsonâs of Wickford.â
âIn addition, many of you are familiar with the battle with the bank, which has literally cost the family hundreds of thousands of dollars,â he continued. âWe have downsized, kept up with both economic and apparel trends, and persevered. We are no longer in a position to do this alone and need your help.â
