Troop 1 Eagle Scouts fly high

July 3, 2014

EAST GREENWICH — In front of several friends, family and dignitaries inside the warm cafeteria at Cole Middle School, Boy Scout Troop 1 East Greenwich honored seven new Eagle Scouts Sunday afternoon, lauding the tremendous efforts in serving their community and their overall dedication to scouting.
Andrew Thomas Basso, Patrick Corrigan Curtis, Benjamin Thomas Fazio, Ryan Patrick Marshall, David James Navilliat, Dominic William Rizzo and Garrett Daniel Scanlon had their Eagle badges pinned to their uniforms on stage by their parents to go along with their abundance of merit badges, completing their long journeys to the summit that is the Boy Scouts’ highest honor.
U.S. Sen. Jack Reed (D – R.I.) said in his brief address that the septet’s achievement in obtaining the rank of Eagle is more than just an accumulation of merit badges, but rather a demonstration of character, leadership and commitment to “a purpose beyond yourselves."
