Track booms at North Kingstown

Freshman Katarina Ho runs a leg of the winning 4x800-meter relay at Saturday’s Schomp Invitational. Ho also took first in the 1,500-meter run and will be one to watch at the divison meet.

WEST GREENWICH — It would appear that talent on the outdoor track is contagious at North Kingstown High School. After becoming the division champions during this most recent indoor season, the Skipper girls are back and better than ever. Quite literally; North Kingstown track is collectively ranked its highest rank ever, with both the boys and girls teams currently sitting as the favorite for top three at the state meet.

“We are doing extremely well,” said Skippers’ coach Jenn Chabot during a phone interview on Monday. “We are undefeated so far, despite the horrible weather conditions at Westerly last week.” The North girls competed in the Schomp Invitational on Saturday and this time, the weather was on their side.
