WEST WARWICK— Thundermist Health Center has joined the summer food service program to assist families who struggle to afford food for their children during the school vacation months.

The program, which started last week at Thundermist, 186 Providence St., West Warwick, offers free meals to children ages infant to 18, Monday through Friday 4:45 to 5:15 p.m.

The program will be held through August 23.

Cindy Elder, spokesperson for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, explained that this program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Rhode Island Department of Education.

This is the first year Thundermist has coordinated with this program to provide children and teenagers with food during months they may go without.
