Teen still missing; police canvassing town

August 27, 2014

WEST WARWICK— It is approaching one week since 14-year-old Khia Lake was last seen and there has been no promising leads in the investigation. West Warwick Police Department (WWPD) were canvassing the community yesterday, talking to anyone who may know the young girl. They have not utilized any K-9 units during yesterday’s investigation.

An Amber Alert has not been issues because Chief Silva said, at Monday’s press conference, that certain requirements have not been met. Amaral explained that in order for an Amber Alert to be issued, a confirmed abduction must take place and the police would need information to show that.

Lake is 5-foot-3, weighs about 120 pounds, and has a fair complexion, dark brown, shoulder-length hair, and a lip ring on her lower-right lip. She was last seen wearing a black v-neck tank top and black shorts with the word “dancer” on the back.

Anyone with knowledge of Lake’s whereabouts is asked to contact the West Warwick Police Department at (401) 821-4323.
