Strong day for SK track

April 30, 2014

Prout’s Olivia Hirst (shown) and Narragansett’s Vincent Santos had strong performances at Monday’s meet against South Kingstown and Coventry. Hirst won as a member of the 4x1 relay and Santos came in first in the 110-meter hurdles.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN –South Kingstown left Monday’s four-team, co-ed Southern division outdoor track and field meet with the best overall performance against the spread of divisional foes. SK defeated Coventry 94-50, Prout 113-33 and Narragansett 101-43. Coventry managed two victories: 66-60 over Narragansett and 89-37 over Prout. Narragansett defeated Prout 69-59. Scoring in a multi-team meet can seem slightly confusing with teams competing against each other in multiple, cross-fire matchups while individuals compete against the clock and measuring stick. Monday’s competition was given a depth of scoring of three meaning that in each event first place earned five points, second earned three points, and third, one point.
