SKPD form initiative to identify children with Autism

SK Police Chief Vincent Vespia says it’s important that parents with Autism inform SKPD of their child’s disorder.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - An initiative by the South Kingstown Police Department aims to identify those who live or frequent the town who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for use by the police officers in locating, identifying and handling situations that involve those individuals.

According to SKPD, the goal of the program is to provide police with quick access to critical information about a registered individual with ASD in the community in an emergency.
