WARWICK - The South Kingstown American 11 and under All-Star Team has enjoyed a nice start to the tournament. The team won their first three games against South Kingstown National, Narragansett, and Wickford, quickly becoming recognized as one of the strongest teams in the winners bracket.
However, the team had a big challenge on Sunday afternoon against Warwick Continental, thought to be one of the best teams in the tournament.
In what was a close game throughout, South Kingstown just came up short, losing against Warwick Continental, 6-5. Warwick Continental scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning that helped lead them to a win. For Warwick, pitchers Tyrell Bernall and Jack Gannons helped contain South Kingstown’s offense in what was a very contested game throughout.
For South Kingstown, Zac Zyons and Ben Brutti helped carry the offense, each with two hits in the game and RBIs in the first inning to help them take the lead. Jack Healy also had an RBI single in the fifth inning to help bring the score to a one run difference. However, South Kingstown couldn’t complete the rally in the final inning, and the team suffered its first loss of the entire tournament against Warwick Continental.
