Shannock Village approved as mixed-use zone

August 14, 2014

RICHMOND — Shannock Village is the town’s new zoning district. After years of discussion and planning, the town council approved Shannock Village as a mixed-use zone at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Town Planner Denise Stetson said that the planning board had been listening to Shannock residents’ ideas for the district since 2008.
“We had a lot of meetings with residents and people there, and we talked about the boundaries and we had a lot of input. In 2008 was the first meeting with residents and we met with them several times over the years to get to this point,” she said. “We had a lot of input from residents. They’re the ones that went over the use codes, defined the boundaries. The residents had a tremendous amount of input,” she said.
Stetson said that new guidelines were written for the Shannock District that will help keep its historic feel and are available on the town’s web site.
