COVENTRY— Giving back to his community is top priority for 2014 Coventry High School graduate, Ryan Curtis, who was recently rewarded for his hard work by receiving a $1,500 scholarship from the Rhode Island Association of Former Legislators Scholarship Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation. Former State Senator Aram Garabedian presented Curtis with the award for his dedication and contributions to community service.
“At an early age, I wanted to be involved with a non-profit organization to help people who don’t have a lot and are less fortunate,” Curtis said. “I want to be the voice for those who many not speak up for themselves.”
Curtis never anticipated applying for a scholarship, especially to get recognized for his community service contributions as he explained there are many people who are willing to give back to those less fortunate. His father had been involved with community service his whole life and Curtis wanted to follow in his footsteps.
