November 1, 2011

Consumers who purchased a sandwich known as the Nike All-American should be advised that the product was recalled, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH).

The product was sold at Wal-Mart locations in Coventry, Cranston, North Smithfield and Westerly. HEALTH advises anyone who purchased the sandwich to return it for a full refund.

The sandwich was recalled due to possible contamination of Listeria Monocytogenes. Symptoms of Listeria, according to HEALTH, include a high fever, sever headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Pregnant women should be advised that Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

HEALTH advises anyone with symptoms to contact their healthcare provider for treatment. The sandwich is made by Landshire company and HEALTH reports that no other Landshire products were included in the recall. The sandwich is pre-packaged and individually wrapped. The net weight is 7.25 ounces. The UPC Code is 0 9748801741 5 and the lot number is 11 237 6, according to HEALTH.
