Sanderson to discuss future of historic Wakefield

July 30, 2014

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – With a multitude of changes coming to Main Street in Wakefield, Ted Sanderson, executive director of the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission will give an aptly timed talk next week entitled “Wakefield’s Future: The Importance of Place.”
As Post Acute Partners’ application to demolish the historic Larchwood Inn and replace it with a 61,500-square-foot Alzheimer’s care facility is pending before the planning board, Sanderson will give an overview and update on historic preservation around Rhode Island.
“I will touch upon the importance of historic neighborhoods and historic town centers, like Wakefield,” Sanderson said by phone Friday of his talk. “These places are importance places within our communities where people live and work and they contribute to our state’s economy in many ways.”
