Rumbling over flags at Dillon Rotary

April 24, 2014

Ted Wright on Thursday said since he built the Narragansett sign at the rotary in 1998 with donations from community members, he has the authority to fly whichever flags he chooses.

NARRAGANSETT – The Armenian flag will fly at the Narragansett rotary until Saturday to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

The Armenian National Committee of America requests that the flag be flown in honor of those killed in the atrocity that Turkey still refuses to describe as a genocide. Roughly 1.5 million Armenians were killed starting in 1915 amid the chaotic collapse of the Ottoman Empire, which is often acknowledged as one of the first modern genocides.
