RIDE report says charter schools performing well in Rhode Island

April 23, 2014

Charter public schools in the state are generally performing well, according to the Rhode Island Department of Education’s report “The State of Rhode Island’s Public Schools” released this month.

“There is still work we need to do to ensure that all of our charter public schools are examples of excellence, but there is no doubt that our charters serve a vital function, which we see each year when the schools receive approximately 11 applications for each opening,” Commissioner Deborah Gist wrote in the introduction to the report.
