Raptakis, Madonna compete for senate seat

August 11, 2014

COVENTRY— The two candidates for the District 33 (Coventry, East Greenwich, West Greenwich) Senate seat spoke about their campaigning efforts and the platforms they will be advocating for in order help benefit the residents of the district recently. Currently, Lou Raptakis is running again as he is the District 33 Senate seat holder while Michael Madonna is his opponent in the November election.
A life-long Coventry resident, Madonna is a Branch Manager for Citizens Bank in Coventry and has been involved in the community while being the past President of the Coventry Little League. Candidates running unopposed is a troublesome issue for Madonna, as he believes people have the right to choose who will represent them.
“It bothers me because I think people deserve a choice,” Madonna said. “We have a lot of problems in Rhode Island and the same people are getting elected because the constituents don’t have a choice for whom to vote for.”
