Property stolen from NK Senior Center

June 25, 2013

NORTH KINGSTOWN — On the weekend of June 10, the North Kingstown Senior Center at 15 Beach St. was robbed of more than $3,500 worth in patio equipment. The larceny, which remains under investigation, occurred between the evening of June 7 and morning of June 10.

According to the North Kingstown Police Department’s report, local residents did not see any suspicious activity over the weekend. A bench, table and four chairs were stolen from the Senior Center’s patio area, all of which had padlocks and security cables cut prior to removal.
The cost of items stolen from the Senior Center totals $3,834.35. Marie Marcotte, director of the center, was the one who discovered the stolen patio furniture.
No video surveillance is available at the Senior Center and thus no suspects could be positively identified. NKPD suspects that, because of the size of the patio furniture stolen, ‘two or more suspects would have been needed to move the items.’
“Also, a truck, van, trailer, or combination thereof would have been required to transport said items,” it continued.
Officers interviewed local consignment business owners and searched Craigslist in order to find any recently sold patio furniture matching the same descriptions as those at the Senior Center, but discovered no further information.
