WEST WARWICK — Less than two weeks ago, a bank robber held up the Citizens’ Bank on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry. Early Saturday morning, a convenience store on the same road was robbed, setting off a chase and manhunt that is ongoing.

State Police, as well as Coventry, West Greenwich, Cranston, and Warwick Police are actively searching for the second of two suspects. The first, a Massachusetts man, was apprehended over the weekend.

The pair robbed a Shell station on Pontiac Avenue in Cranston at approximately 12:40 a.m. on January 4, according to a State Police press release.

About an hour later, they hit an X-tra Mart at 851 Tiogue Avenue, setting off a chase involving multiple agencies and crossing several jurisdictions.

Shortly after the robbery on Tiogue Avenue, officers from Coventry and West Greenwich attempted to stop a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses in each robbery.

The suspect vehicle fled the area, but a short time later was identified by State Troopers, who observed it traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 95 before the operator lost control of the car on the exit ramp to Route 117 in Warwick.
