The Chariho boys tennis team was eliminated from the Division II playoffs today with a 4-0 loss to Classical.

Boys lacrosse
Division I quarterfinals
Barrington 14, North Kingstown 4
BARRINGTON – North Kingstown had confidence heading into the playoffs after finishing the regular season playing significantly better than it had to start the year, but it didn’t matter as Barrington was too strong and eliminated the Skippers from the Division I playoffs with a 14-4 win.

Division II quarterfinals
East Greenwich 10, Middletown 5
EAST GREENWICH – Division II’s No. 1 seed showed why it’s the team to beat this postseason, dominating the second half of play to put away Middletown, 10-5, in the quarterfinals of the D-II playoffs.
Kyle Carosotto, Sam Feinberg, Andrew Gehlmeyer and Ethan Zink scored two goals each and Jack Payette and Colin Waitkun added one apiece.
The Avengers move on to the Division II semifinals Wednesday when they host Providence Country Day at a time to be determined.

South Kingstown 7, Mount Hope 4
SOUTH KINGSTOWN – It wasn’t easy, but it worked.
South Kingstown got three goals from Garrett O’Dowd, leading the Rebels to a 7-3 win over Mount Hope in the Division II quarterfinals at Curtis Corner Middle School.
Chad Mitchell scored twice in the win and Brett Grimes and John Curzake added one goal apiece. Matt Cauchon finied the game with 12 saves.
The Rebels will host Mount St. Charles in the D-II semifinals Wednesday at a time to be determined.

Mount St. Charles 12, Prout 10
WAKEFIELD - Mount St. Charles opened the game on fire and held on to a halftime lead, eliminating No. 3-seeded Prout 12-10 Thursday afternoon at Christofaro Park.
Teddy Fenton led Mount with four goals and Ben Handanyan had three. The Mounties scored eight times in the first half and led 8-6 before both teams scores four goals each in the second half.
Prout was led by Chris Kopelcheck’s four goals. Charlie Baetjer and Zane Morgan scored two goals each while Austin Brawley and Ryan Cripps scored one apiece.

Division III quarterfinals
Coventry 7, Warwick Veterans 6
COVENTRY – Coventry did most of its scoring in the first half and it needed every goal, holding on to beat Warwick Veterans 7-6 in the Division III quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.
Ethan Tryhubczak led the Oakers with three goals and Zach Allen had two. Stryker Blue and Caleb Carr has one goal apiece.
Coventry moves on to the semifinals where it will play at Smithfield at a time to be determined.

Girls lacrosse
Division I quarterfinals
East Greenwich 12, Bay View 11
EAST GREENWICH – East Greenwich held off a late comeback by Bay View, but advanced to the Division I semifinals with a 12-11 win over the Bengals Thursday evening.
Marielle Kraft led the Avengers with six goals and Sammy Blair added three. Roxanne Comito scored twice and Anna Basile and Carolyn Cruise scored one each.
Emily Rapoza had 12 saves in the win.
East Greenwich will play Moses Brown in the Division I semifinals Wednesday night at Rhode Island College at 6 p.m.

La Salle 18, North Kingstown 8
PROVIDENCE – North Kingstown fell behind big early and had a second-half comeback thwarted by La Salle in an 18-8 loss Thursday night, eliminating the defending champs.
The Skippers trailed 11-3 at halftime but after La Salle opened the second half with a goal, scored four straight goals to make it 12-7.
It was enough to wake the Rams up as La Salle finished the game outscoring NK 6-1, ending the Skippers’ season.

Division II quarterfinals
Narragansett 20, Mount St. Charles 5
NARRAGANSETT – Narragansett made it look easy in Thursday’s Division II quarterfinal against Mount St. Charles, beating the Mounties 20-5 Thursday afternoon.
Chandler Lemay led the Mariners with five goals, Eily Sullivan scored four, Abby McKanna had three and Ashley Kennedy and Sam Sabetti scored two apiece.
Erica Andranowitz, Kara Heatherton, Emily McGreen and Jess Trautman added one goal each in the win.
The Mariners move on to the D-II semifinals Wednesday when they’ll host Tiverton.

Boys tennis
Division II quarterfinals
Prout 4, Ponaganset 2
NORTH SCITUATE – The back end of Prout’s singles order came through with big wins and the top two doubles teams did their job as the Crusaders beat Ponaganset 4-2 in the D-II semifinals Thursday afternoon at Ponaganset High School.
No. 1 Brandon Hazelton and No. 2 Chris Berard lost their matches, as expected, but No. 3 Connor Hagerty and No. 4 Chris Small came up with wins. Hagerty beat Kyle butler 6-0, 6-2, while Small won in three sets over Russell Brown, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6.
In doubles, Joe Cappuccio and Jeff Rothstein won at No. 1 over Brad Leach and Pat Wahl, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6, and Matt Monjay and Matt Sullivan beat John Ejnes and James Luther, 6-4, 6-2.
The Crusaders play in the Division II semifinals Friday against Cranston West at 5 p.m.

Classical 4, Chariho 0
PROVIDENCE – Chariho’s commute north was only slightly shorter than the match itself, as Classical won at the top two singles spots and the bottom two doubles spots, beating the Chargers 4-0 in the Division II quarterfinals.
Thanks to traffic, Chariho arrived to the match 45 minutes late and things didn’t get much better.
With Classical players in a rush because they had to go to their junior prom, the No. 1 and 2 singles players started, as did the No. 1, 2 and 3 doubles teams while No. 3 and 4 singles waited to play.
Classical won at No. 2 and 3 doubles and Chariho No. 1 Mike Gilligan fell soon after. Classical clinched the match when Colin Gui finished off Nick Brocato 6-0, 6-3.
