People want change

WEST WARWICK — Residents in the area believe they have a big decision to make in November as far as who will be Rhode Island’s next governor.

Candidates seeking nomination in the Democratic primary include Rhode Island General Treasurer Gina Raimondo, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, Todd Giroux and Clay Pell; meanwhile, Republican primary candidates include Cranston Mayor Allan Fung and Ken Block.

Mike Stralford, of West Warwick, said it’s too soon to tell who should be elected but given his situation, being a single dad, trying to provide and save a little when he can, his concern is higher taxes.
“I don’t want whoever is elected to leave us in the dust,” he said. “I didn’t see much changing under Chafee’s watch, so the next person has to have a focus on bringing in companies with good jobs that will have stability.”
