COVENTRY— A man who allegedly killed another resident at an assisted living facility last October was indicted by the Statewide Grand Jury on Aug. 21 for one count of murder, it was announced Monday by the Attorney General’s office.

The indictment charged Domenic Petrarca, 55, with the murder of fellow resident, Joseph Costa, 61.

On Oct. 20, 2012 Coventry police responded to a call at the Summer Villa Assisted Living Center at 51 Laurel Ave. for reports of an unresponsive male.

Upon arrival, police found Costa in a back outdoor smoking area of the facility. After a rescue arrived CPR was administered and he was taken to Kent Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 4:30 a.m.

At a press conference held last October, Coventry Police Chief Bryan Volpe said Costa had sustained head and facial injuries and police initially thought he had fallen during a rainstorm.
