NKPD looking for new recipient in Donegan case

April 30, 2014

NORTH KINGSTOWN—According to North Kingstown Police Chief Thomas Mulligan, the department is looking for a new recipient for the $5,000 contribution meant for Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) from Jayne Donegan. The North Kingstown resident was cleared earlier this month of violating the town’s social host ordinance, among other charges.

Donegan originally pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a Jan. 25 underage drinking incident at her home. A Third District Court judge initially ordered Donegan to make a $5,000 contribution to MADD, but executive director Gabrielle Abbate issued a statement on April 16 that her organization would not accept the donation from Donegan, saying it would send the “wrong message” about providing alcohol to minors.
