NARRAGANSETT—It was a tremendous summer for the North Kingstown Gold eighth-grade basketball team as they entered the Narragansett Basketball Youth League as the premier first seed before going on to defeat local rivals North Kingstown Blue in the semi-finals and South Kingstown for the championship title.
In this opening game of last Thursday’s playoff matchups, NK Gold knocked off NK Blue by a margin of 20 points and the number two seed—South Kingstown—slipped by Chariho Green with an outstanding comeback in the middle of the second half to win, 42-37.
Both NK Gold and South Kingstown battled hard to get to the position they were at Thursday and in their first game between the two squads, North Kingstown came away with the slim five-point victory to hand the young Rebels their only loss of the season.
This time both teams were playing for championship bragging rights on the line as they were considered the two best teams throughout the summer season.
