NK Council approves 2014-15 town budget

The North Kingstown Town Council passed the 2014-15 fiscal year budget by majority vote on Monday evening. At the time of the vote, Town Manager Michael Embury said the budget tax rate was $19.08, a 28 cent increase over 2013, noting that this could fluctuate by a penny by the time the rate is finalized on June 16.

The entirety of the approved budget totaled approximately $99.4 million, including a general fund budget of about $27.6 million a debt service fund budget of $5.5 million, a library fund budget of $1.5 million, a Q/D recreation fund budget of $1.8 million, a water fund budget of $3.8 million, a municipal court fund budget of $243,763, and a school fund budget of $59.1 million.
