NCAC gets a boost from sunset cruise

June 11, 2014

NARRAGANSETT – Some 120 Narragansett residents gathered at Quonset Point on Thursday evening for a sunset cruise to raise money for the new Narragansett Community Athletic Complex.

The cruise, which took place aboard the Ava Pearl, a Rhode Island Fast Ferry, traveled round-trip from Quonset Point to Newport Harbor, passing 10 lighthouses along the way.

The fundraiser included an introduction to “The Murray Family Challenge,” an initiative set forth by Suzanne and Terry Murray of Narragansett, seeking donations in the amount of $500 that can be paid over the course of up to five years.

The challenge dictates that if the town can gather 500 donations of $500 from Narragansett full or part-time residents, the Murray family will donate another $50,000 to the athletic complex in addition to the previous $50,000 they have generously provided.
