Narragansett wins second consecutive All-Star game, eliminating East Greenwich

July 2, 2014

NARRAGANSETT- The Narragansett Junior All-Star team has already accomplished so much in the early games of the District 3 All-Star Tournament. With some of the best baseball players in Narragansett on the team, the players wanted to get off to a quick start in the tournament against some of the other teams in the district.
After picking the worst draw in the draft, the team won its second consecutive game on Sunday, defeating East Greenwich, 6-5, in a game that went down to the wire. The team beat Westerly on Saturday by a score of 10-6.
In Sunday’s win against East Greenwich, the team was on fire from the plate in the third inning, scoring five runs and leading the team to a second win in the tournament. Narragansett left fielder Jordan Riendeau was sensational from the batter’s box on Sunday, with two hits and an RBI in the five-run third inning. Third baseman Ashton DeSantis also had a big day from the plate with an RBI double in the third inning. From the mound, after Narragansett gave up three runs in the final inning, pitcher Chris Owens helped end the game with great relief pitching, securing the victory for Narragansett.
