Why have you decided to run for office? The Exeter Town Council has dealt with many important issues during this current session. Ordinances to establish a village overlay district are now in place. The Public Works garage is now heated by a furnace that runs on recycled oil. A solar-powered system provides hot water for the Animal Shelter. Energy efficient appliances have been installed in town buildings. All of these were purchased at no cost to taxpayers; they were paid for by Federal ARRA funds. The town landfill closure is now complete. Federal and State funds have been received to enable the town to better prepare for and deal with natural and man-made disasters. Issues in several town departments have been addressed, resulting in improvements to the operation of each. Exeter continues to work collaboratively with the other towns in Washington County through its participation in the Washington County Regional Planning Council. A rewarding partnership with Job Corps has been established. The list could go on, but even with all that has been accomplished there is much more to be done. I ask voters to return me to the Council to continue this critical work for the future.
What are your platforms/plans for the area if elected?
I will continue to work to maintain the character and quality of life Exeter residents embrace. I firmly believe that any growth in the town must be the result of proper planning. There is a delicate balance that must be maintained between keeping our taxes as low as possible and protecting the town.

Why have you decided to run for office? The Democrats on the town council are proud of the fact that they have raised our taxes every year that they have controlled the council, this they state in a bulk mailing they just sent out. The last time there was no tax increase in our taxes, there was a republican controlled council.
What are your platforms/plans for the area if elected? Control the budget so we have no tax increase in the coming year; continue open government that I pushed for and was denied us by current democrat members of the current council. What I mean by this is they removed the town council meeting from being broadcasted on local television. It took my last run for town council to make this known to the voters. It was Councilman Patterson who had the issue put on the agenda for the town finical meeting. It passed and we can now see what the council is doing.

Why have you decided to run for office? I’ve chosen to run for re-election to continue to keep an eye on the taxpayer’s mone and to ensure it’s spent properly, not foolishly. Some individuals in local government don’t understand that a lot of Exeter’s citizens are struggling to pay their bills in the economic times we are facing. I’ll continue to advocate for small government and control spending.

Why have you decided to run for office? I would like to continue the work I started during my time on the Council from 2004-2010. We made great progress in many departments – public works, Tax Collections and Tax Assessing. I was very involved in Emergency Management, attending statewide meetings and seeking grants to improve our responses during major storms.
What are your platforms/plans for the area if elected? To continue to seek ways to improve how the town government serves the tax payers of Exeter, as part-time leaders it’s hard to keep up. But we must involve everyone in the direction of our future; we must work hard on state leadership to support our small town. The most important issue will be fair taxes for everyone without causing and increased burden on our residents. We must do the best we can to provide Town services while keeping the budget in check.
