Man makes himself at home—at J. Lo's

August 23, 2013

A local man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly breaking into Jennifer Lopez’s pool house in Water Mill, NY and residing there for a week.

According to a press release provided by Southampton, NY police, on Aug. 8 workers at the singer’s residence in Water Mill — a section of the Hamptons — called police regarding a suspicious male on the three-acre property.

Upon arrival, police found John M. Dubis, 49, of Coventry in the pool house. He allegedly had been living in the pool house for a week unbeknownst to Lopez, who was out of town.

Lopez already had an Order of Protection against Dubis for prior confrontations.

He was arrested on scene and was held on the following charges: second-degree burglary, fourth-degree stalking, first-degree criminal contempt and possession of burglar tools.

According to NYpost.com, Mark Young, a spokesman for Lopez, said he hadn’t heard about the case.

On Aug. 9 he was brought before a magistrate judge at Southampton Town Justice Court in Hampton Bays where he pleaded not guilty.
