Locals performed well at New Englands for Bluefish

Local swimmers Michaela Degnan and Hannah Pariseault each competed earlier this month for the Bluefish Swim Club at the New England Swimming 13-19 Age Group Championships held at Harvard University’s Blodgett Pool in Cambridge, Mass.
Degnan, 14, of Narragansett finished in 10th place overall for the 13 to 14-year-old girls division with 83 total points.
She recorded three victories at the August 1-4 competition, including the girls 100 meter butterfly (1:04.71), 200 fly (2:25.07) and 100 backstroke (1:06.83).
Degnan also took third place in the 200 back (2:26.44) and tenth in the 400 individual medley (5:25.87).
In the two relay events she competed in Degnan swam the first leg of the Bluefish Swim Club’s winning 400 medley relay team (4:39.43) and also picked up a second place finish as a member of the 400 freestyle relay team (4:12.92).
Competing in the same division, Pariseault, 14, of Saunderstown took sixth place in the 400 IM (5:21.98), ninth in the 200 IM (2:33.08) and tenth in the 1,500 free (18:54.44).
Pariseault also competed in the 100, 200 and 400 freestyles, as well as the 200 breastroke. In the relays her top performance came in the 400 free relay where she swam the anchor leg in a second place performance.
Overall the Bluefish finished the meet in second place out of more than 50 teams.
