Local police departments join forces to curb underage drinking and ensure nightclub safety

September 26, 2013

The South Kingstown and Narragansett police departments are among several departments joining the Rhode Island State Police in their new statewide task force in enforcing nightclub safety and alcohol related violations.

The task force also includes the University of Rhode Island Police Department as well as other police departments throughout the state, including Providence and Newport police.

Police and campus security from Providence College, Bryant University, Rhode Island College and Roger Williams University have joined the task force as well.

The task force, which has been active in the state since the beginning of September, conducts nightclub compliance checks and responds to areas identified by local police and the general public as being problematic due to excessive use and alcohol and consumption of alcohol by underage persons.
