Local bank robbed

East Greenwich Police is searching for a suspect in connection with a robbery that transpired at a local bank Friday afternoon.

At around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the Coastway Community Bank, located at 5750 Post Rd., where bank officials informed them that the suspect handed a teller a note, which made mention to a weapon, and demanded money. The suspect then left with an undetermined amount of cash and ran north on Post Road toward Clemente Drive.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 30 years of age, standing 5-foot-6 with a thin build and having a light-colored goatee. The suspect was also wearing a white, long-sleeved, thermal-style shirt, light-colored jeans, white sneakers, a black Nike baseball cap with the logo on the front and sunglasses at the time of the incident. He was also carrying a messenger-style bag over his left shoulder.
The suspect is still at-large and East Greenwich police is asking anyone with any information regarding the incident, or the identity of the suspect, is asked to contact the station by either calling 884-2244 or sending an email to tips@eastgreenwichri.com.
