EAST GREENWICH — In August 1973, Peter and Ilene Hoffmann made the small town of East Greenwich their new home, settling on a ranch-style house at the end of a cul-de-sac on Lillibridge Drive, a quaint residence in a quiet neighborhood where the couple would raise their family over the years.
With the children long since out of the home and living their own lives, the Hoffmanns now share their home together, with Peter Hoffmann four years into his retirement after working for Textron in Providence for 22 years – the last 15 with the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority in Boston – as a risk manager and Ilene Hoffmann still working in the East Greenwich School District.
But their comfortable, quiet lifestyle was rattled in more ways than one just a few years ago and they believe that the Town’s multi-million-dollar middle school the Hoffmanns can clearly see from their back yard had something to do with it.
