Job Corps graduates 10th class since ’05

The Exeter Job Corps Academy recently celebrated student success at a special graduation ceremony help on Oct. 23. The event was the 10th graduation since the academy opened in January 2005. Over 60 students received their high school diploma/GED and career technical certification at the event, which featured each graduate presenting a rose to a person who has made a difference in their life.
Families and students joined together for a memorable moment and a reception was held after the ceremony.
Job Corps is the nation’s largest and oldest federally funded job training and education program for income eligible young adults ages 16 through 24. Established in 1964, Job Corps has trained more than two million young adults, serving approximately 65,000 each year in more than 100 different trade areas.
In Exeter, the academy offers a residential program with room for up to 200 students.
Students can earn a high school diploma or GED and they are offered career technical training in any of the following career paths: business, information technology, construction, manufacturing, health occupations technology and culinary arts.
The Exeter Job Corps Academy is operated by Adams and Associates, Inc., for the U.S. Department of Labor.
