Historical Society unveils plans for Narragansett 125th

August 29, 2013

NARRAGANSETT- The Narragansett Historical Society plans to celebrate the town’s 125th anniversary by presenting various historical events at The Towers on Sunday, Oct. 6.

The first event is the performance of the major scene and of the soliloquy from the opera “William Sprague and His Women.” This event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and focuses on the history of Col. William Sprague and his wife, Kate Chase. The scenes will also include various educational facts of Narragansett.

The opera was written by historical society member and Narragansett resident Richard Vangermeersch and was composed by Geoffrey Gibbs. This opera was previously presented at the University of Rhode Island in September 2012.
