Galilee Advisory Committee sorts summer projects

June 16, 2014

NARRAGANSETT – The Galilee Advisory Committee met on Tuesday evening to go over updates on several projects. Significant items on the agenda included the 2014 Galilee Seafood Festival and Fishing Tournament hosted by the DEM and the boat ramp in Galilee that recently underwent construction.
The Seafood Festival will run according to plan, but board members approved a letter to be sent to the town council requesting additional funding for advertising the event. Board members explained that the traditional budget for marketing the event is approximately $10,000, however, because most of the money generated by the event is donated to charities, including the Special Olympics and the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation, the committee is requesting an additional $5,000 from already existing funding, Fund 43, to help with the costs of advertising. The committee approved a motion to bring the request before the Narragansett Town Council for an official decision in July.
