Foote pleads guilty to driving under the influence

December 14, 2010

WAKEFIELD – Richard “Robin” A. Foote, who campaigned for stricter safe-driving laws following the death of his son this past year, pleaded no contest last Thursday morning in Fourth District Court to a charge of driving under the influence of liquor.

Foote, 60, of 30 Briarwood Drive, was arraigned by Judge Mary McCaffrey, who imposed a sentence that includes $780.50 in fines and court costs, a three-month license suspension, 10 hours of community sentence, and driving school. His two other charges of reckless driving and disorderly conduct were dismissed.

Foote was arrested by Charlestown police the previous Thursday, Dec. 2, when he followed a 16-year-old girl into the police station on Old Post Road.
