August 15, 2013

New Exeter-West Greenwich High School Principal Susan Chandler replaces Brian Butler, who resigned suddenly in July.

WEST GREENWICH — On Tuesday evening, the Exeter West Greenwich Regional School Committee announced its selection of a new principal. Susan Chandler, formerly assistant principal at Coventry High School, will now take the reins from former principal, Brian Butler, who resigned earlier this summer.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am,” said Chandler to the committee. “This position is one of the most important, [and] every decision I make will be in the best interest of your children.”
“As a resident of this district, I am thrilled and can’t wait to get started,” she added.
Chandler holds a B.S. from Rhode Island College (RIC) in career and technical education, and also received a master’s degree in special education in 2000. She holds a second master’s from RIC in school administration, obtained in 2003.
Regarding work experience, Chandler taught in the Career and Technical program at Chariho High School from 1997 to 2002. That same year, she was appointed as dean of students at Chariho, and served as director of the Career and Technical Center there from 2003 to 2007. Chandler had been serving as an assistant principal at Coventry High School since that time.
