Emotions run high in fire settlement talk

Town Council President Elizabeth Dolan said on Monday that the fire union did not respond to settlement letter by the March 31 deadline.

NORTH KINGSTOWN-Town Council President Elizabeth Dolan confirmed the council’s March 24 vote approving a settlement offer in the town’s long running dispute with the North Kingstown Fire Fighters, NKFFA Local 1651. Based on the failure of the NKFFA to reply to the settlement offer by the imposed deadline of March 31 at noon, however, Dolan said, “Unfortunately we don’t see a settlement in the near future, and the litigation is still pending and will move forward before the Supreme Court.”
