EAST GREENWICH — Four emergency service members not only rose through the ranks of their respective departments, but the majority of them also continued family traditions in the process.
In front of friends, family and proud residents at Town Hall Monday evening, Stephen Garrett and Michael Monaghan each were sworn in as lieutenant for the East Greenwich Police Department and the East Greenwich Fire Department, respectively, while Glen Terilli was promoted to sergeant of the EGPD and Andrew Campbell became a permanent member of the EGFD.
Three of the four emergency employees have fathers who had previously worked as either police officers or firefighters – each of whom proudly pinned the badges on their sons. Garrett’s father, Jack, is a retired chief of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), Monaghan’s father, Joseph, is a retired firefighter and Campbell’s father, James, is a retired member of the Warwick Fire Department.
