Election 2014 taking shape in Chariho region

July 3, 2014

In Chariho’s three towns, candidates have placed their names on the official ballot for school committee and town council elections in November. The deadline for declaring candidacy was June 25.
The Chariho School Committee’s ballot includes 12 candidates vying for seven positions.
In Charlestown, four candidates are seeking to fill three positions. Incumbents Ronald J. Areglado, Donna Chambers, Craig Louzon are seeking reelection as independents. Republican Stephen Young is running for the first time.
Young, a nine year resident of Charlestown, is the retired owner of a small graphic arts business in Colorado. He said he was asked to run for school committee.
“I was asked to run by a lot of people who just think some things need a new approach – probably the clarity of the budget. Have you ever tried to read the Chariho budget in depth? It should be easy for everyone to see and from there we might be able to say, ‘Let’s be more efficient here’ – that kind of thing,” he said.
