Dr. King’s philosophy celebrated in local forum

Dr. Paul Bueno de Mesquita, the head of URI’s Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies, helped share the philosophies of Dr. Martin Luther King at a recent forum at Swift Community Center.

EAST GREENWICH — Standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial addressing the thousands of people who were shoulder to shoulder across the National Mall his ‘I Have A Dream’ speech is the signature moment that is etched in the minds of people across the country when they first think of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.

However, that oration that was delivered by the late activist and humanitarian at the height of the civil rights movement within the United States wasn’t the only thing that defined Dr. King’s legacy in promoting civil obedience.
