July 3, 2014

EAST GREENWICH — Members of the East Greenwich Town Council commenced discussions regarding the future of the financial town meeting and how to go about placing a referendum on the ballot, giving the public the opportunity to decide whether or not the Town should continue conducting said meeting each June.
Town Council President Michael Isaacs stated during the Council’s June 23 meeting that the public should have a chance to voice its opinion on the matter at the next meeting, which is scheduled for July 14, and then discuss the FTM’s future one final time for vote on July 28 before sending the question to the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s office prior to the Aug. 6 deadline regarding referendums for the November ballot.
