COVENTRY— Members of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) have been diligently working at Carbuncle Pond to lower the water level after beaver’s made their home on the culvert.
Jay McGinne, Supervising Civil Engineer for RIDEM, explained that in early June, his department was notified about the close flooding of Carbuncle Pond in Coventry.
Because of the amount of rain that accumulated last month, the water level of the pond was 10 feet above the normal height.
Residents in the area were concerned of flooding, since the water level was becoming close to homes and Route 114.
Although the Fishing and Wildlife Department handles the actual pumping of the pond, McGinne said his department conducts a plan on how to get the job done.
