Kevin McGee has accepted the Director position for the Coventry Department of Public Works. His job begins Nov. 4. Kendra Miller. Coventry Courier.

COVENTRY — Town Manager Tom Hoover will get to lighten the load a little bit November 4, when Keith McGee assumes his new position as the Director for the Coventry Department of Works.

McGee, who has lived in town all his life and brings a vast amount of site construction experience, is looking forward to starting the job.

“I’ve been in the site construction business for 25 years with R.T. Nunes and Sons but I applied for the job in town because for me, it’s personal. I want to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps, who was the highway commissioner back in the day,” he said.

McGee is no stranger to the community and as a former town council president from 1998 to 2002, a former planning board chairman, a former member of the redevelopment commission and former member of the housing authority, he knows the community and its needs.

“It’s tough to leave the private sector, but I’ll get to spend more time with my family and work more regular hours and be in the position until I reach retirement,” he said.
