Council back to business after summer layoff

August 20, 2014

WEST WARWICK — After being in recess all summer, the West Warwick Town Council tackled a long agenda last night.

Community Block Development Grant (CBDG) funds are making a difference for those who own small businesses in town. The department will reallocate $30,000 in CBDG funds in an effort to improve storefront facades.

Of that $30,000, $25,000 will be moved to Phenix infrastructure and $5,000 to Crompton storefronts; one business owner in Crompton has committed to an upgrade if the funding is available.

“This money has been sitting for quite some time and I think it would be better spent there,” said Community Development Office Manager Elaine Mansour.
