Council approves support of CDBG funding for disaster relief grant

April 23, 2014

NARRAGANSETT – The town council unanimously approved a motion to adopt a resolution in support of three pending applications for CDBG funding in this year’s disaster relief grant round.

Michael DeLuca, director of community development, explained to the council Monday that the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Relief program is a special program issued out of sequence with the regular CDBG program by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He said the disaster relief program offers funding for repair and reconstruction of properties damaged in Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Irene and winter storm Nemo.
