SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The bi-annual legislator scorecard from Common Cause, a non-profit, non-partisan clean government organization, released on Thursday, speaks volumes on the quality of the legislative representation that the public receives in South County.
The scorecard is based on five factors that were used to individually judge each legislator: voting rights, campaign finance reform and elections; open government and legislative rules; ethics; separation of powers and judicial selection. According to Common Cause, the 2015 removal of the master lever or straight-party voting option was the highlight of this year’s general assembly session.
