SOUTH KINGSTOWN - The bill to fund the South Kingstown School District’s capital improvement plan that was approved in this year’s budget officially hit the senate floor yesterday. The bill, introduced by Sen. Susan Sosnowski (D - South Kingstown), would authorize South Kingstown to finance health, safety, fire code improvements to the high school, middle schools and elementary schools in the town through bonds not to exceed $4 million.
The bill begins the journey to begin construction on this year’s capital projects, which includes building a new roof on Peacedale Elementary School and refinishing the stairwells at the high school. These two projects were prioritized based on recommendations from an architectural study by Rhode Island company Robinson Green Beretta (RGB).
